Male vs female seeds & plants

You cannot reliably sex a cannabis seed by eye — the old "darker = female" myth is folklore. The reliable signs only appear at pre-flower (week 4–6 from seed):

  • Female: two white pistils (hairs) emerge from a teardrop-shaped calyx at the internodes.
  • Male: round, claw-like pollen sacs hang in tight clusters at the same nodes.
  • Hermie: both organs on one plant — remove or quarantine.
  • Feminised seeds produce ~99% females; autoflowers also ~99% female and flower on age, not light schedule.
Germination in 5 steps
  1. Soak seeds in distilled water 12–18 hours at ~22 °C.
  2. Move to damp paper towel between two plates; keep 22–25 °C.
  3. Tap roots show in 2–5 days. Don't touch the root.
  4. Plant 5–10 mm deep (root down) in damp seedling mix or jiffy plug.
  5. Keep humidity ~70%, lights soft and 25–30 cm above for week one.
